V6...rough idle...wants to die
What's up all, I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 V6...for the last few weeks now I've had an intermittant idle issue. You can feel the truck once it gets rough, really feels like it wants to die. Haven't noticed it while driving, only at intersections or at drive thrus. Normally idles around 900 rms or so, but I've seen it dip down to 700s. Hasn't actually stalled out yet, but I know it's coming. Just changed the air filter and plugs...no luck...any suggestions?
IAC valve? Idle air control. Should be mounted to the throttlebody.
They can be cleaned, just don't use carb cleaner. it'll dry up the seals and brittle them.
Do the v6'ers have a Maf? i don't think they do, but those get dirty and cause idle problems too.

pretty sure the 3.7's dont have a MAF
i have always noticed a rough seeming idle from the 3.7 mostly because they are a 90* v-6 and will be rough at times.
are you getting any check engine light?
if there are somewhat good amount of miles i would change the PCV valve as well,.

I have 52K on it right now...no check engine light as of yet
PCV valves are recommended every 30k.
take out the PCV on the oil filler tube and shake it. If the check ball moves very freely it is fine but if you dont hear anything rattle its defective,
when you did the plugs did you make sure and connect all the coil over plug connectors and gap the plugs correctly?

cool, I'll try the PCV next...yeah, everything was snug and plugged in and gapped right...it was doing it before the tune up also.
