Welcome to DF.

I know the rack & pinion units are not the greatest in these trucks and if there is an issue with one, it can put metal particles in your pump and ruin everyone you install. I would bring it to a mechanic and have them properly diagnose it as it may be the rack and not necessarily the pump. Reman pumps are not going to be as good of quality as OEM either.
A mis-aligned front end would cause similar problems as well, so it's very hard to tell by your brief description. I also had to read it like 10 times to understand what you were trying to say. Maybe you can describe the situation more in detail and make a little more sense of things.
Maybe someone esle can chime in and assist as well?

make sure you got enough fluid in there. flush the system to clean out the crap from the last time you changed it, then keep an eye on the level. check it every oil change. I didn't know where it was going, but my 04 leaked fluid. was on the 3rd pump in my 2 years owning it

edit: welcome to DF! watch out for these lunatics in here

And the RIGHT type of fluid. The last guy that kept running through pumps finally figured out he was using regular PS fluid and NOT ATF+4 which is what they use.
