Default 3rd gen hemi 2500 owners..vibration..

I have had booth left and right front u joints and axle shafts replaced under warenty, last june, now I'm close to being off warenty and I suspect thiers a issue with the front diff.

My truck is 06 reg cab 2500 5.7 hemi 6speeed man, 373 lt slip, below 80 km thiers no vibration in the stearing wheel, above 80 km in 2 wheel or 4wheel drive thiers a strong vibration in the left hand side of the stearing wheel, with in the last two days this has started to act up.

Alignment and tracking, stearing, tire psi is all fine, as I'm close to no warenty, Im considering buying a extended drive train warenty from Dodge to cover the engine, 4x4 drive train, in the event of sudden front wheel lock up ....

Before the front wheels totaly lock up, what can I check for under the truck to check the front u joints on the front drive axle?

Do you smell anything burning?
Loss of braking?
Why do I ask?

My dads truck (02 Ram 1500) had the right from caliper lock up causing heavy vibrations above 55MPH.
I would have those checked.

Brakes are fine and i don't have the death wobble, My truck handels like a sports car and I have never jad a issue with the stearing and suspension, truck was just serviced and the fluid level is clean and correct in the front diff.

I may swap out my old bfg for the new rims and tires i bought last year to rule out any issues with my summer tires.

Have you had the tires rebalanced? You could have lost a weight or even possible that your tire could be internally separating?

that sbs not only cures death wobble but it cures all the shaky steering as well. if you are experiencing this then DW is probably not too far away. Not trying to put words into hammers mouth but i imagine that's what he had in mind with his post.

Pull the drive lines and check the u-joints and double cardigan joint. I have 136K on mine now, did all mine last summer. If I had to venture a guess, its the rear diff, rear joint. Federal-Mogul makes greasable one that go under the name of Precision. They can be had from RockAuto.com

Put a paint stripe down each drive line BEFORE you start pulling it apart to keep the regulated(balanced)

Have fun with the double cardigan---took me 5 tries before I got to slip together A major PIA.

The front driveline is rebuildable, even though they want you buy a whole new drive line. The caps are held in by a injected, hardened plastic, apply some heat until its just hot enough that you can't hold your finger on it, then press it out.

The new joints come with inside clips instead of the e-clips on the end.

Good Luck!!!!

up date.

Turns out I sorta wrong, but I was on the right track, vibration was in the drive line but not in the front axles, u joints like I thought. rear u joint and input shaft, front u joint on the drive shaft, replaced under warenty.

Truck is awsome now !!!!

Now this gets really stupid really fast, dealer wanted to replace inner stearing shafts, non warenty item, at my expense, 1100.00 bucks, this was also causing a vibration acording to the service rep, as I have said before I have never ever had a issue with the stearing in my truck and ya I'm gonna risk 1100.00 bucks to have some miss with the stearing in my truck when its abought the best handeling truck I have owned.

Hard sell to do ...
Injector flush 125.00
brake flush 130.00
4x4 service 400.00
power stearing flush 130.00
tune up 365.00
install rear caliper boots 135.00
wheel balance 130.00

Verry little warenty left, and dealers are crooks !!!
