Default High idle - even after warm

Don't know if anyone else has this issue, When i first start my '07 Ram Hemi 1500 in the morning or after it sits for many hours (like when i come out of work), she idles at 13-1500 RPMs then settles after a minute to under 1000. But i could be driving the truck all day long - running errands, and i still get the same issue except it may idle at 12-1300 RPMs and settle down to under 1000 in about 30 seconds.

I've had the truck since new and only has 28,000 miles on it. it's been like this the whole time and it's been twice to the dealer for this and they say it's "normal".
Now i don't get in the truck & just start it and pull off all the time but i think when it's at normal operating temp. it should at least idle under 1000.

Anyone else have this going on??

I dont want to make you mad but this is normal. My 08 hemi has 18k miles and when I start it up, even warm, it sits at 1250 rpms. Once it warms It sets down to 1000 rpm until I put it in drive. Ill talk to my Sales guy tomorrow and find out why they do this.

My wifes Mini runs right at or slightly above 1000 but my truck at stock ran 700-750. Mine is an 04 so that may be the difference. I have it set at about 625 now though. Maybe you want to look into something like a Diablo Predator and lower your idle.

it is normal by all means.
it takes movement of your viscous cooling fan and your in open loop so its gonna be a higher idle but should settle down below 1000 after a while.

normal

I can pull off the freeway, turn off and restart the truck, and get the high idle for a minute. It's just how they programmed it.

Are you sure because 550 is close to stalling?

We're not talking about normal idle. We're talking about that high idle right after you first start it.

Thanks for all the input guys, now that i see it's "normal" i don't feel so bad.
I would do the same thing RubberFrog would do with the hot restart and get the same results.
My 300C wouldn't do it at all so that further concerned me.
