Replacing light switch on 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad
Hello,
I am venturing into installing fog lights on my Ram 1500 but dont have a good idea how to remove the stock light switch. I purchased the fog light kit from Chrysler that came with a new light switch.
I would apprecaite if someone can share some diagrams/pictures with step-by-step instructions if you can please.
Thank you guys.
Shaffin.

Alright the access panel that is directly to the left of the switch is what you need to remove. Get a small flat head screw driver and pop it off where the red dots are. Once this is removed you should have access to the back of the switch. I'm not 100% sure how it's held in but i think there are a few screws. I'm at work right now and can't look at mine. If you want when i get home i can look and tell you exactly how to remove it.

Going to be a bit more than just that. But trust me it's pretty darn simple. After the first time I took it apart from there on it literally only takes me but 2-3min max to tear it all down again.
In this video you only have to watch until 50 sec. Once you get to 50sec you have the panel off that you need and that switch is only held in by 2-3 screws and out it comes. I know because I took it apart to see if I could switch the light to blue when I changed my instrument panel to blue LEDs.
Goodluck and try to use a plastic panel remover or a flat head with a tissue on the end to not scratch up your plastic.

The video show an 06 but I have an 08 year will that matter - meaning is the process exactly the same? What I am afraid of is that from looking at the dealer's screen, I could see a steel bars that may block access to the switch if I just remove the side panel.
Fter everyone's reply, I finally ventured into installing the fog light myself. I must say the direction that everyone provided was bang on! Thank you all for providing a direction. The fog lights dont work though, I am guessing thats because they need to be enabled by the delaer via the onboard compter.
I am not sure how much they will charge but thats for another day - will head out to the dealership first thing Tuesday since Monday is a holiday here in Canada.
Thanks again to everyone!
