Changing Pads and Rotors on 05 1500
I want to change the brakes and rotors on my 05 1500 today but I have heard getting the rotors off is a huge pain. Does anyone have any advice on getting them off?
Here ya go all except you almost never need the bag over the reseviour unless you have added fluid as the pads have worn??
mine came off with a good straight pull, if your getting new rotors you can always tap the rotor with a hammer to loosen the "rust bond" be careful not to hit anything else and tap around the disc evenly as to not get the disc crocked on the hub/axel

The only thing about the rears is that the E-brake shoes are inside the rotors. There is a drum surface on the hub area of the back rotors, so pulling those of may a bit of a chore. You may need to back the adjuster screw off a few turns to get them off as the pads usually cut a groove in the surface which puts a lip on the outer edge. They tend to hang up there.

I did mine a couple weeks ago and it went just about like any other I've ever done. You're right they probably won't just pull off. There is a nice open spot where you can tap the rotor as you are spinning it and it should come off. Mine was a little stubborn so i also had to spin the rotor slowly while pulling on it and hitting the drum area that dirty was explaining and that did the trick nicely, it came off in about 5 revolutions with me hitting that area pretty hard.
Try this.
If you can watch this over the cheesy music, it's a great & easy way to get stuck rotors off.
Back off your e brake adjusters though before you try this!

Great video. The only thing I'd caution is to push it just a little at a time, then rotate the rotor and push it a little at the opposite side.
I've never had one that I couldn't break loose with penetrating oil and percussion (a hammer), but it does happen.
