Default 136k miles, how much moding can i do?

so my 02 5.9 has 136k miles and i have been doing regular check ups. But i wonder, how much modding can my engine take? i plan on doing headers, intake, and cam. if i were to go beyond this ie. Cylender heads. would it be to risky?

Hell, you can do whatever you want. Any repairs that come your way make it into a mod/upgrade. Your truck is prime for modding if it basically forfills you needs.

I'd actually trust that old 5.9 block more than I would a Hemi block. Go for it...

ya i have the same milage as you , have longtubes headers 1.7 harland sharps and a tuner to make the engine work better, its a beast from when i 1st got it till now .. the only prone to the motor really is the known plenum and cracked heads which gives you a reason to buy better flowing heads . and possibly a hughes edelbrock airgap (manifold) people rave about. so ya you can you will be fine

yea i have the 5.9 in my grand cherokee with 302000kms and it still runs strong i would put money on it beating my 07 hemi ram sbrc.. i had a 96 grand cherokee 318 that went till 410000kms with no motor work at all... but the body rotted off of it.

i dont miss my 5.2. Awful gas mileage, slower than a moped, and if you did happen to give it any gas, it was time to fill up again. Never ran "perfect" with 60,000 miles. Leaked oil..

Not happy.

So far I LOVE my HEMI.

and the funny thing is it was the 318 and not the 360 nor even the original Hemi which gave Chrysler the reputation of having the best V8s on the planet...
