How much can i tow?
Hey i just bought an 08 1500 laramie with 50xxx, its got a hemi with esp, and the fuel saving thing, anyways the paper work says it has the towing package with the gearing and such, also it says it has havy duty rads battery and cooling, so i want to tow my old truck 95 ford ranger home, 1200kms, the ranger is about 3300lbs plus a car trailer, will i be ok? how much can i tow? it has the tow/haul button to. thanks
Is it 2wd of 4wd? Max towing is around 9,000lbs either way, so you will be fine with the ~5,000 lbs. that you are towing as long as the trailer has brakes. What gears does the truck have? All of that info is helpful in answering this question better for you.
2wd or 4wd?
gears?
big tires or stock?
trailer brakes?

Best of all worlds (factory tow package, 3.92 gears, 17" wheels, WD hitch, etc.) the rating is 9100 lbs.
Deduct about 1000 lbs for 3.55 gears, 1000 lbs. if you have 20" wheels, about 400 lbs for a 4x4, another 400 for a QC. and it can go down fast!
But assuming avg. dual axle trailer weight, with only a 3300 lb. truck on it, you'd still be fine even if you had to deduct for all the above...

you should be good, this past weekend i towed a 93 cherokee for about two hours with my wittle bitty 4.7. of course i have an adjustable efan, bigger tranny cooler and 4.56 gears. but the ol gal held up fine. id say with the hemi, and havin the tow package youd be alright. gettin rollin is not the problem, brakin is where people get into trouble. hopefully the trailer has brakes and you can/have a TBC.
I second the mention of trailer brakes. Towing over around 3000 pounds, you should be looking at brakes on the trailer. If you need to stop fast, it's really nice to have that big hunk of weight behind you doing its share.
