i was looking under my truck today because its way to quiet and i want to put an exhaust on it.. how many mufflers does my 07 hemi ram have? the down pipes have a cat each on them.. and then it joins into one single 3" pipe i think and then into a smaller muffler and then into a huge muffler and then your resonator on your tail pipe.. so what have people done to delete the mufflers? i am wanting to go straight pipe because my 5.9 jeep was and i loved it.. but i dont want to hack the exhaust either.. what if i take the big muffler off and then direct the exhaust out the side in front of the rear wheel? any input or pics? thanks.

 

I also have an 07 and had the same question a while ago. The first one you see is a resonator then the huge muffler then the smaller resonator at the tailpipe. I took out the muffler and added an Aero Turbine 3030. I added an 18" extension to fill in for the smaller new muffler. The OEM one is like 34" long to the AT3030 20". There is many ways to do your exhaust, you can get a magnaflow y-pipe to a straight 3" pipe running back to whatever muffler you want. Search around there is a lot of threads on this.

 

You have 2 cats, a resonator before the muffler, the muffler and a resonator after the muffler. You can either get a catback of your liking or just buy a muffler and some piping and either weld up a pipe your self or take it down to have a muffler shop weld it up either way will get rid of the two resonators.

 

Or do it really good and get rid of everything......LOL

 

yea i want all mufflers and resignations gone.. and either leave it straight pipe or add some sort of performance muffler..

I went with LT headers and new y pipe, got rid of all the other crap, and put a dynomax muffler on it. Its pretty damn loud as my wife really doesn't like being in the truck, but hey i love the sound.

 

What's up with them women and loud pipes anyway, I have loud pipes on all my toys and my truck will join them soon, Aero AT3030XL should be here tomorrow. My wife hates it also, but to bad because I like it and I drive it!

 

ha it's not just her the neighbors too. I was talking with them the other week when i had the truck in the shop getting work done for 2 weeks and they had asked where it went. They were dissappointed that it was coming back as apparently i wake them up at 5 am every morning when i start it to leave for work....awww tooo bad!!!

Yep, you only got one muffler, the other stuff under there are 2 cats and 2 resonators.

I have long tube headers, the stock cats (although I moved them back about 18" to fit the headers), a "Y" pipe I had fabbed up (not as good as the Maggy "Y" but not near as bad as the stock one), then a Cherry Bomb Extreme muffler going to two stainless tips.

It'll disturb the peace pretty well if I get on it at all...
