Do you have a tranny cooler and a power steering cooler in front of your radiator? Mine does, but it's got the class-4 towing setup. I don't know if they're all like that or not.

If you do, I'm wondering if those aren't getting hot enough that you need to move air through everything faster to keep up with the additional heat demand. Any air that get pulled in through those two coolers is already pre-heated before it passes through the radiator so that could be a factor when climbing a steep incline.

If you're getting into situations where it's heating up quite a bit, you might want to try having the high-speed setting available on a switch. I'm reading that the airflow is greatly increased on high speed, so that should help cool things down when you aren't moving fast.

I'm assuming that your cooling system is in good working order.

If you have a issue with it, rewire it to the high-side. You definately wont have a problem then. Your truck will be cool, even though it'll sounds like a jet engine taking off! lol that, or get a lower t-stat. That'll do the job too.

Just looked it up, low side on the fan is 3200 CFM, high side is around 5500 CFM. Change it to the high side, and you'll have no problems.

Are you talking about the Taurus fan? I thought they pulled about 2500 CFM on low, 3600 on high... Either way that is a lot of air!

its been hot as hell in fla this summer i have only had mine hooked up for a cpl weeks now and i went with a "junkyard" fan and it works great. run the truck in hard traffic in the heat of the day ya know round 3 and she works great havent got the 180 in yet but i will be doing so soon....

According to Ford specs, the Taurus fan is 2450 cfm low side, 4300 high side... Be advised that if using the high side, a 40A relay is NOT sufficient...

Yeah I did get a 80/60A relay off ebay for $9 but had to trim the relay pins to get it to fit in my relay socket. I had some issues running mine on high that I really have not narrowed down yet (no time) but it can be done.

Flex-a-Lite 180 Extreme, full kit so everything you need is in the box. I believe it's been replaced by model 183 now.

I did my install by the book except I didn't like using a non ignition power source. The fan running after cutting the truck off till it came down to temp made me uneasy as I was standing around waiting to hear it shut off so my battery wouldn't be dead. LOL!!!

So I wired to a keyed source. Other than that, straight by the instruction manual install...
