Default Exhaust question

I've got a 2005 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi
Its got a dual exhaust system with cats just after the pipe bends after it comes off the headers, but no mufflers just straight back to the back. I was thinking about getting a new exhaust system, but I was wondering how I would connect say a Flowmaster or Magnaflow system to it? Would i have to buy a new cat and a Y pipe on top of the actual system or is there a simpler way to do this. OR is there a better set up I could put on there that would sound good. Its got a growl to it I love the sound it just crackles a lot I don't know if its due to the condition of the pipes or the cats or anything like that. Thank you for your help

Most guys are going to say Magnaflows and being that is what I have, i will also say that. I used to have a Flowmaster but my Magnaflows do sound better. Now how you want to run them (true duals, x pipe, h pipe, y pipe, ECT) depends on how much money you want to burn.

well ive heard people have had problems with true duals, and that its better to run an x-pipe. but seeing as i have true duals right now i have a feeling i would save some money keeping it that way. im kind of new to this performance exhaust deal so im not sure how i would go about it. im trying to keep it under around 500$ if possible. i appreciate your help

dynomax make a dual in and dual out with the x pipe inside... Dynomax Ultra Flow X P/N 17554 for the 3" pipes $115.99 on Jegs website. You'll get an extra $25 off with mail in rebate if bought before Aug 31st.

Ive got true duals wit a X pipe and no issues here. It just depends on how much money you really wanna spend.
