Default Check Engine Light

I just changed the rear diff oil and replaced it with Royal Purple, and now I have a check engine light on. Is there a possibility that I could have caused that light to come on?

Welcome to DF.

Since your only other post is in 3rd gen, I'm assuming you have a 3rd generation (2003-2008) built Dodge Ram, and guessing by your name, you have a diesel.

I will move this to the 3rd gen section for you, hopefully get you some answers. If any of what I assumed/guessed is in error, please PM me and I will move your thread to the appropriate section.

I seriously doubt changing the oil in the rear diff will cause the CEL to come on. it is likely something else but either way you need to connect a tuner to it and pull the DTC codes or go by an auto parts store and let them connect their OBD scanner to it and pull the codes. Then come back here and tell us what they are.
