Default switching to dodge, need some help

I am new to forum and new to Dodge for that matter. I have always owned Chevrolet trucks but am really really looking hard at switching over to a Dodge. I just sold my Chev Z71 and have my eye on 2006 and 2007 Ram quad cabs. I read the FAQ sticky. Can anyone else shed some light on the 06 and 07 rams with the 5.7 Hemi? Any common problems? Anything I should keep an eye out for? I am looking for something with less 30k miles. Anyone have any problems with rust yet? Anything you dont like about your Dodge Ram?

Well there are not really any major issues in the 5.7s for the most part. Sure a few guys have isolated issues but nothing across the board that affects everyone.

When you ask about rust you need to specify a location you are asking about. I am in south GA and I have no rust issues. But obviously for guys up north where they throw salt they will have rust issues.

I live in Ohio. I would hope that a cared for 06 or 07 wouldnt have any rust started but I have seen 07 Silverados with rust starting on the door skin flange at the bottom inside of the door in my area.

Yeah I would think it would be hard to find a non-rust truck that far north unless it is not driven in the winter or washed the under side and taken care of.

you will differently have surface rust but only under the truck on the frame, leaf springs etc but differently not on the doors and rockers (that a big sign it was used as a plow truck) i'm up north in Canada and my 05 doesn't have any rust on the cab or box just under neath, i'm the 2nd owner
surface rust does not effect the truck
when your shopping around take a small piece of metal or pocket knife and craw under and just scrap the frame if you see rust, if more than just the rust comes off you got a problem
but for the most part an 06 or an 07 won't be rusty

this is an example of surface rust
