Default help selecting a new mod....

Got some extra cash and now doin some modding... just purchased a bull bar and still have a good amount left to purchase another item.... First my truck is an 06 ram 1500 4.7L 6 speed.....I been looking at the superchips, which one is the best to get, a flashpaq or the cortex, they seem to give the same performance? also for a 4.7 can you really tell a difference in performance with these chips? i know alot of people use them to help with thier auto tranny's shifting.... Because i can save up some more cash for a few months and just slap some 4:56s on her if the chips really dont ad much performance? what do u guys think? thanks dudes.

I woulda suggested a winch, since I know you take yours off the beaten path, but I'd rather doubt the bull bar you just ordered would support a winch, so the only thing I could suggest would be to send that extra cash my way...

I have been wondering the same thing... I also have a 4.7 QC 4x4 with the 6-speed and it seems like a lot of the performance changes that everyone talks about are with shift points. Is it worth the money for the superchip, when I can change my shift point any time I want without it? Does it make enough of a differance just by adjusting the other values to be worth the money? If it does then I am all about buying one, but if not, then I won't.

The other advantage I do see with it, is that it will (in thoery) allow me to get the most from my other mods. Such as Intake, exhuast, etc... Anybody else here with the 6-speed using one that can tell us what kind of difference they saw?

i have a superchips cortex on my 4.7 and i felt a big difference. just throwing it out there. really, all the mods depend on what you do with your truck on a day to day bassis. see, for me, i use mine for everything, including some shows, pullin my boat, just pretty much everything.

if i was you, i go ahead and get SC.

I will go against the grain and say the superchips didn't make a huge difference on my truck any of the 6 of them I have used....

I would recommend the 4.56 gears as they made a HUGE difference with my 34's but if you aren't doing 35's or larger, do 4.10's. I hat driving on the highway because the higher RPM's and lack of top end power.

If you are dead set on spending it, get a ported TB. I felt a huge gain compared to the superchips. Half shafted and knifed edge.

have you thought of doing an e-fan? would seem to be a better choice to me. plus you could put the rest of the money you didn't use towards the gears or maybe put it towards a lsd.
