2004 2wd and gears?

Hey guys, pretty simple question. I wanted to know if I buy Motive 4.10 gears, will there be any issues with installing them on the factory LSD? There's a package with the Detroit True Trac and the gears, but is that needed? Or can I just take the gears and the truck to a shop and have them install no problem? I drive the truck mainly around town, however i wanted to get rid of the 3.55's for better acceleration, and also possibly going to be towing a car across country.

I'll also be installing a CST 4" lift, Edlebrock shocks, and a Superchips 3865... figured the gears would comliment all this. The biggerst i'll ever go on tires is 33"

You will have no issues installing 410s on the stock LSD and I would not upgrade it unless you are having issues with it. But be sure to inspect it regularly and make sure the clutch pack retaining clips are not broken off. If they are I would still only clean out the housing good and put new oil and LSD additive in it.

But if you have the funds to burn then by all means get an Auburn or DTT

Thanks Weed. I'm just going to order new clips and have them use those when they do the install of the gears. Better safe than sorry. How would I go about regularly inspecting the rings once the gears are installed? How often would you say?

make sure backlash and pre-load is correct with your spanner nuts in your rear diff.
if both those are good then your set to go.
i would double check with gear marking compund to look at how your gears are sitting against each other.
regularly inspect it by taking the cover off, inspectig the fluid, inspecting the gears, and looking for anything out of the normal.
i even check backlash again again at 500 miles after the gear swap to make sure.
and change the fluid after 500 miles as well.

If you lose or pull out the CPRCs then I would not worry about putting then back in

true and for the price of gears go for the 4.56 on moes they have a kit that comes with all new bearings thats your best bet i know on airram.com he had 4.10s for the same price as 4.56, but really if you open it and have the gears redone you might as well replace the bearings cause the carrier bearing is known to go

I really don't want to go with 4.56's. I actually drive quite a bit of freeway miles every now and then, don't want to me maxing out, or effecting fuel econemy too badly. 4.10's will be more than enough, that's a decent step up from the 3.55's. However, I will take the advise and have the shop install new carrier bearings and clips when they do it.
