Default Question: 4"in. Exhaust?

Okay so my little bro has this 5in. tip we were talking about slapping on the mega here latley. But know he has his old 4" exhaust from his cummins. How bad of a power lose could I expect by running his 4" exhaust on my truck? I was looking for a different tone and with adding that 5" tip would surely give it a different tone no doubt! So lets here it. Oh I will also get a 3" tp 4" adapter piece to put it all together with some slight modding I would imagine.

ok for one. you have a megacab
who knows what his truck is. your mega cab will be way too long so it will be short.
it also is probably rusted or cut into pieces from trying to get it out from under the truck,
its got a cat from a diesel with sut build-up from it,
the downpipe came from the turbo not an exhaust manifold.
different style hangers down the whole system.
just some reasons i could think of

mega cab is roughly the same length as a qc longbox, give or take an inch. If that's what he's got, it will be fine length-wise.

It's too much pipe though, you're going to lose torque down low. If it's off a 6.7 liter cummins, it's got a lot of crap you don't want in it, you'd be much better off buying a stick or two of 4" and have it custom bent if you want to lose torque.

You will probably lose some low end torque with that big of an exhaust, don't you think?

Dynos show significant drops in performance after 3" on gasser V8s. Most of the scavenging effect is lost.

Yes it is off a 5.9 cummins. No it is not hacked up and t has a deletion pipe on it already. His truck is an 06' I think, so the rust is minimal if any. If it was to be run, we were going to cut it short for it would not make the length of my truck. We were gonna dump it right there in front of the rear tire with the 5" tip. Maybe I will stick with just some 3" and a 5" tip instead of running the 4" cause I need all the bottome end I can get to get her big *** moving.
