ive heard the 5w-20 increases gas mileage but lowers engine life, so im sticking with what i know, oh and i still think its the sending unit the dealer said they could find anything wrong, but i might replace the sensor anyways.

pretty sure if you have mds and your not running 5-20 its bad for the motor... pretty sure that has no relation to your gauge though i have an 08 and it does the same thing.

Nope, go ahead and change it back. The small passages in the MDS system really require 5W20. It will not effect engine life at all.

Any updates on this? the oil pressure gauge on my 2008 dodge ram seems to be fluctuating. whenever i am at a red light the pressure drops just below the normal mark and when i start to accelerate it goes just below 3/4. not sure if it has been doing this before, but i just noticed it today on my way to the gas station.

its normal thats why there is a gauge. higher RPM's cause oil pressure to rise its just how things work dont worry about it
