Hey everyone. I am looking to buy a new 1500,I live in the northeast so I will be doing some plowing,could the 1500 handle it or should I look at the 2500? Thanks in advance.

 

Personally, I would not consider a 1500 for plowing or any type of heavy duty work. I've heard they sell a plow packages for the 1500, and some may have used them, but I think it's worth the small amount of cash to upgrade to a 2500. The 1500 serves my needs fine, but I have no plans for plowing or extensive heavy towing/hauling.

 

Depends on what the ratio of plowing / every day driving will be.
I got the 2500, and I don't do jack with it. I just wanted a 3/4 ton 4WD truck.
The ride sucks compared to a 2WD, but I knew that going into it. I love my truck.

 

Putting a plow on the 1500 will kill your warranty, where on the 2500 it won't.

You'll enjoy the 2500--I just bought one, feels like a real truck!! and plenty of power to spare

 

just got a 05 2500 also . sits so much highe then the 1500 and its rides nice as hell. definately go for the 3/4 ton

Definately go for the 2500 if you're going to plow. The manual's pretty specific that DC does not approve the 1500 for plowing.
