Default big 3 help

I gotta a 2004 1500 4.7L. I'm looking to do the big 3 but I'm confused about running the power wire to the alternator. What do I do about the thing on the side of the fuse box that the stock wire runs through. Do I bypass it and go straight to the alt. or use it the same way.

It's for the audio world mostly. Big 3 means; alternator wire upgrade, ground strap upgrade, battery neg. upgrade.

With a stock alternator, upgrading your alt wire will be pointless. Now, if you have amps or lots of juice being drained fromyour battery, then upgrading the ground strap and neg cables will be a good idea.

As for the original question, that is a distro point for the truck power and adding a beefier wire to that rather than directly to the battery makes no difference as there is a wire from that block going to the battery already.
If you wanted to upgrade the alt wire, adding a 10ga. wire will be more than sufficient.

When i did mine I upgraded all the original wiring. That means the battery to starter, battery to ground, alt to PDC terminal and battery to PDC

@weedahoe That install looked good. I'm assuming you recommend a yellow top battery for high powered systems? And I will have about 25 extra feet of 0 gauge so I might as well use it on something. @dirtydog Are you saying I should just run an extral length of 10 gauge straight to the alt?

Dont get those batteries confused. Those are not sealed, gel-celled Optima batteries and do not ask about them in this thread because this thread will get totally sidetracked with opinions and stories.

Those are Autozones Duralast Gold batteries and are acid based.
