Default 3.7L V6 Engine swap. HELP!

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 3.7L V6. The engine was bad, so I purchased another engine (out of a 2004 model). This causes a problem, because the internal engine parts that the cam and crank sensors read off of are different between the two year models even though the actual sensors are the same. I don't want to pull the engine and disassemble it to fix my problem.

Does anyone know if I can get a computer out of a 2004 model and fix the issue?

Thanks for any and all help!!!

Someone ran into this problem with a Liberty (same engine). Here is a sticky about the yearly differences from 02-05. It looks like its doable, but might be more than you're willing to do or spend. If you have any questions for that poster, let me know and I'll ask him.

Hey, thanks for the post! There must be a difference in the trucks and the Libertys though, because the sensors are all exactly the same. I did have to swap the exhaust manifolds, but the transmission bolted right up.

I would like to know if a computer out of a '04-'05 would plug up in a '02-'03...

If it would, there is a possibility that it might fix my problem. I would rather not have to pull the engine again if it is not necessary. I don't really have a great place to do that. If I could simply purchase a computer, that would be great!

I would just like to know if they even have the same plug???

Thanks again!!!
