Default Truck doesnt sense the key is not in ignition

And it continues to beep like crazy. I shut the truck off, pull the key out, and open the door and it beeps like the key is still in the ignition.

Also, the radio doesnt shut down and the alarm system wont "honk" when I hit the button on the keychain

I dont know if its the switch or the key, as the key i have looks like a copy made after the previous owner(s) lost the original (its grey with no chrysler/dodge markings)

Its getting annoying lol. I figured maybe resetting the computer?

Or how tough and expensive is swapping out the ignition switch?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you need a new ign switch. Changing it is not hard. Just take the 2 or 3 torx screws off the bottom of the column shroud and go from there.

A quick parts search and they are pretty cheap.

However, what do i have to do for the key? Dont they have a chip in them?

If you have a grey key then yes they are chipped. If it is black then it is not chipped. As for getting another key (grey), only from the dealer.

I would assume the ign switch will have to come with a key. If not, how would you crank it at all?
