head light blackout question
can i remove the stock head light and take the box apart so that i can paint the inside of it in a matt black? or should i think about trying to buy a balcked out set .
You can paint them black, BUT do NOT paint the reflector bowl black or you will have no light ouput. That little cap over the bulb causes the light to be refracted against the chrome reflector bowl so it can disperse the light onto the road. Paint that part black and you'll get practically no light output. So, make sure the dished part doesn't get painted.
It's a PIA to pull apart the housings and if I were to do it just to paint the inside black...I'd buy already black headlights for the $100 they get for them on Ebay.

You can get a more custom look if you do them, but DirtyDog was right about it being a job. I love mine and everyone that I have done it for love it though
