Default Rad Leak

I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.7 hemi and have a small leak coming out of the rad down the side where it crimped. Is it safe to use an sealer or should i just pay and have it fixed?

This is very common.
I've had two go on me like that on my 03.
I just replaced the rad both times unfortunately.
I don't know if there's a repair out there?
Al.

A repair that has been done to our trucks at work is to take it to a rad shop, they pull the plastic tanks off, replace the seal and re-crimp. Works most of the time, 2x it didn't. When my rad was leaking I visited that rad shop and inquired. It would be $75 to do this, if I took the rad off and brought it in, $150 if they took it off. The work is not guaranteed either. I opted to pay $165 and just replace the whole thing myself. That way I have a new unit, with a lifetime warranty that I get a strange feeling will be used.

Thanks for the replys. I figured that would be the best way to go and just buy a new one.

Be Careful with the lifetime warranty on Rads as their IS a catch. Your first year is a no questions asked replacement...However once a year has passed... You must show proof that the Rad has been flushed once a year by a licensed mechanic (Work orders etc). ....Who the hell does that? Do no put stop leak or anything into the rad.... Stop leak will clog your heater core and just cause problems down the road. Just replace it. Don't count on the "Lifetime warranty" for reasons mentioned above. For what it cost to have a mechanic flush a rad these days you can buy a new rad once ever 2.5yrs lol.

Good luck
