oh yea! i can here the baby drone! but you do need a programmer, IN FACT! hughes offers a SCT tune specificly for the intake. http://www.hughesengines.com/TechArt...thscttuner.php

No insult taken. But understand that I'm not looking for a hot rod. Just a little more performance...just a little waker upper. My truck is apparently chipped, just don't have ANY idea what program is installed. The previous owner did it. What I don't want is my economy to crater.

your stock one says OK on it so maybe now it is Better than OK

I am trying to figure out your Volant intake....my K&N hooks directly into my throttle body? Can I not see yours?

And I hope you get good gains, looks like alot of work! Those full kits that someone posted earlier are high dollar

Looks good man but I've got one critique to make. Looks like you're getting some varnish possibly sludge starting to build up, watch the oil changes!

those airgaps do look sweet though. kinda didnt like the bracket stuff though. kinda chincy i thought. and i love stickers. and they sent a couple paper ones that when i put it on my window it was messed up in a week. c'mon i just spent 600+$ on a intake, atleast send me some good stickers.lol

i have had the jet chip, hypertech max energy and now the superchip 3815. and gonna get the sct after my cam is installed.heres my take on them

jet chip-small power gain. no mpg improvement
hypertech-small power gain-2mpg improvement
superchip-the most power gain of the 3-no mpg improvement

all ran on 93 gas and performance tune. tuners are the best bang for the buck you can do in my opinion.

graphicjunkie-how many miles on that motor?

and to add. i never seen any mpg improvement with any of the mods in my sig. the only thing that helped my mpg's was the hypertech.but mpg's is not my goal.looking for performance, cause mine is not a daily driver.

For the Volant/K&N, if you look at the first picture, you can see the airbox attached to the end of the throttle body hood/tube.
This is what the whole unit looks like, K&N inside the box.

As for the varnish/sludge, yes a little discolored. But no sludge what so ever. Valley pan was intact on the original too.

The truck has 130K on it now, and I'm the second owner. I bought it with 120K on the clock and a fresh oil change, and I've changed the oil once, and then again but switched to synthetic the second time around. (ALL maintenance paperwork was provided. The original owner literally took it to the dealership to have light bulbs replaced...) I'm a stickler for maintenance too...but like to do my own.

Yea, I think I'm done 'improving' this truck. I thought about the rockers, but don't want to drop another grand into that for minimal gains.

i would seafoam it. it will get rid of alot of that black stuff in the motor. and probably help it run better and maybe even give a little bump in mpg's. do it directly through a airtube. donnt just dump it in the gas tank. it works alot better that way.

How do you do THAT?

And wouldn't you want to use an oil additive to clean out the sludge and garbage? A fuel additive wouldn't touch that area...
I normally use BG products. I've heard mixed reviews over sea foam being good and bad.

I would use MMO instead, since it is oil based instead of a strict detergent like Seafoam. Seafoam does work but it can work too good and possibly cause some damage. I wouldn't use it in my truck which is why I use MMO.

Right now I use it in place of one quart of oil and will do it like that for the next change as well but then I'm going to do normal oil changes and just add a pint of MMO to the last 500 miles of the change. The way that you look I think that adding it to the last 500 miles would suffice fine.
