Default air gap install today

I'm going to put in the air gap today, and I've been looking around for torque specs and stuff. Hughes has a link to that guy's site that did the full install on his Durango...he mentions not to use the gaskets for the ends of the engine. I just found the install pdf for the edelbrock version of the air gap, and it says the same thing. To use RTV silicone instead. I'm just curious as to why no one wants to use the 'factory' style gaskets...

Anyway, I'm excited to get this thing on.

Ok, got the thing installed. Not real hard to do. Took some massaging here and there though.

First thoughts? Yes, makes the intake way louder. Don't like that personally, because it almost drowns out my exhaust note that I love so much.
I haven't really noticed much in the lines of performance increase. I did a 0-60 vid before and after. After I upload them I'll post. But what I read from customer reviews made it sound like there was vast improvements in the mids to highs. Sure.
I did notice some better economy. I took a buddy down to Denver to pick up a snow blower. I'm seeing about 2mpg more on the highway. I'll take it.

Now would I spend the $600 again on this? Unsure. But it DOES look a hell of a lot nicer under the hood now! AND changing out the thermostat will be much easier now.

You should see good gains in power and economy, and I'm guessing the only reason Dodge didn't do it from the factory is what you noticed - increased NVH.

i have had my airgap on for awhile now. there is not alot of power gained. maybe just a couple hp's. and my plenum was not blown when i did it and i have not seen any mpg improvement. i think it will work well with the cam and heads i am installing though. with boost in the future gonna be added too.

Ok, yea, I think some of you misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying that I did NOT feel much of any improvement of power. Wasn't looking for an actual increase. But I understood that it woke up the mids to high rpm's. Can't really say that I noticed that either.

Ok, so I used my VholdR action cam to shoot these.

Here are my videos. I pulled out from the same spot by my house onto Highway 85 in all four runs. Both times I would be at a stop and just mash the gas and hold it to the floor.

dont take this the wrong way. that is kinda slow. you need to get a tuner,1.7 rockers, throttlebody. something else. mine runs alot better than that. like i said donnt take it the wrong way, not trying to be a jerk. just saying. with the mods in my sig i can out run a 2010 hemi easily. my buddy has one. his is completely stock though.just wanted to add, i like his 2010 better though.
