Default metal crossbar under front seat

I Have a small computer that im installing in my truck, It almost fits under the drivers seat. but it hits a 1/8" x 2" crossbar that connects the slide rails, the only thing it holds is the drivers seatbelt censor connector. im planning on cutting it out(riveted on) and relocating the connector. the pc would fit perfect there. but i dont feel like cutting it out to find the seat folding in half on me. I dont see it doing that. What do you guys think. should I cut it out?

I would get two pieces of steel, aluminum, etc the same length as the old bar and make your own brackets in front and behind the computer, just drill and bolt them on...

As long as they arnt too far apart , they should stabilize the seat rails

i was thinking about something like that, If the bar was a half inch higher the pc would slide under it. i was thinking of cutting and raising it with some angle iron. but does the crossbar really stabilize the rails? the rails seem pretty thick and strong. doesnt seem like anything could twist or bend them. Nice truck btw

A small computer as in a netbook or something else? Are you looking to just store it there or use it?

I figured he was intergrating an AutoPC or something like that...Id love to do that in the future

I think the bar is support to keep the two from leaning in/out, and with alot of weight in the middle over time it could do that...You could do like you said, it would work about the same as what I said

A little fabrication and I dont think you will have to worry about it again!

im looking to keep it there, I have a 8 inch touch screen im just hooking up to the windshield(for now). I have obd2 software, accelerometers, gps, etc. I had it installed in the dashboard of my old car. it was pretty sweet. But the car didnt like pulling trailers and motorcycles. So i decided to trade her in for the truck. its a 2004 quad cab. but i dont wanna take up the space under the back seat, i need that for cloths and tie down straps. under the drivers seat is an ideal location. The pc is 4 inch tall and like a foot wide. its the size of a large amp, the motherboard is a quad core that is only 6" by 6", tiny but powerful/expensive. im installing audio threw the 6 disc changer port. the only thing holding me back it the crossbar, And im obvously nervous on cutting it.

P.S. Ive been browsing these forums for about a year(very helpful info), I never regestered because i can work a search engine. unfortunatly i couldnt find any info on the crossbar. was hoping the guys that did the foam/leather installs would have some info.

eventually ill put the monitor in the dashboard again, maby 2 8 inch monitors. Im working on the specs to make it work. my carputer looked awesome. But im going to buy a new/used dash bezzle from junk yard to install it into. so i can swap back to stock if needed. the dealer didnt like the fact that i took the dashboard out of my car when i traded it in. I kinda felt bad about it at first, but he got me back with a wheel bearing. aperently wheel bearings are not part of drive train warrenty. he wanted 600 to fix it. rockauto.com and a few hours i did it for about a third the price

Nope, wheel brngs, tires, stuff like that are considered "normal wear" type items. I am intrigued by the "Truck-pooter" project, and am curious to see how things turn out.
