Yeah 456 gears all the way man.....they do great around town and Actually good on highway, but if u want top end speed stay stock, they don't pull as hard at high rpm but low or towing they r great....ill never change em outta my truck....

Unless you are driving at 120mph+ the top end will not be affected at all. Even if you like taking the truck down to the track for some fun you'll still be fine unless you do some major mods which cause you to shift out of 3rd early. Think of it this way, the SRT-10's come stock with a 4.56 gear, if they thought it affect the trucks performance at all do you think they would put them in their "performance" truck?

4.56s are the way to go, with 33s I run 2400 rpm @ 75mph, still get 18 mpg. Picked up about 1 mpg in town with the new gears, and much better acceleration over 3.92s. Plus, the tall gears keep you in the power band, so there is no lag when you're crusing at 45-60 and need to put your foot down to pass. Hands down the best mod ever (with the possible exception of the Auburn LSD)
so have the 2nd gen with the 5.9. i have stock 3.55 with open carrier
