Default Broken Spark Plug?

I have an 02 Ram 1500. When I was changing the spark plugs one of them broken just above the threads. I was wonder if there is anyway to remove the plug without pulling the head? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have never broken a spark plug so i don't know what it looks like inside but if there is a good bit of metal inside then a drill bit that is made to drill holes with a counter clockwise rotation would probably do the trick. i have used this trick a lot with getting out broken bolts but have never tried it with a spark plug so i'd wait on a few more replies to this before i gave it a shot.

I have used a bolt extractor to do this when it happened on my street bike. But that was because I over tightened the plug.

Removing the head is going to be the easiest at this point. How else would you grab on to it and even if you could drill and extract it, where would all the metal shavings go?

ya 5.9 are alot different, the plugs are visible down the sides of the block by the manifold. +1 on the drill but not all the way through and invest in a good extractor bit.

I would try to extract the plug first, a magnet and vacum can get bits and pieces out. But you are the one looking at it so you will know best what needs to be done. Good luck....
