Not sure about the '02, but the newer trucks only a dealer could reset the light i thought?
If there is an SRS illumination, then there is a problem. There could be an issue with the module underneath the seat? Not sure which side it's located on an '02?
There could be a pinched wire, loose connection, or hopefully airbags weren't deployed and then someone just threw a new dash in without actual replacement bags because that would leave an open connection and would set off a light.
Whenever working with airbags SRS systems, you MUST unhook the battery terminals and touch them together for 5sec. This will discharge the capacitor internally within the PCM and eliminate any possibility of airbag deployment by you probing around the wires and removing connectors..etc..
So, you unhook BOTH pos and neg of the battery and then you touch those ends together.
I would first check all of the connections including up under the glove box and within the steering column(ignition source)
You should be able to test for continuity and see if there is an open line. if you have OL that means infinite resistance on the line and the other end is opened and not hooked to anything. You should see some sort of resistance. Yes, even with the battery unhooked and zero power to the truck.
If you leave the battery connected, using a test light will deploy the bags. Using a DMM will not granted you have it set on the correct setting.
I'd check for continuity with no power for starters.
Maybe PM Weedahoe and he can post up SRS schematics for you to show you locations of all the pinouts?
I'd put my money on a faulty module(located under the seat)

hi,
thanks for the reply!

well i got the truck hit in the front / passenger side,
and right now i am fixing with new parts,,
and i have notice the airbag light is on,,

also i have notice that the car was previously hit in driver door and rear door (driver side) and it was fixed, so not sure if the airbag light is from at that accident or the one now on passenger front,

but will try the pos and neg wires to see what will happen,
will reply,with the results,

I've got the same problem. Just started yesterday. A lot of threads talk about checking the clock spring. It is located in the steering wheel i believe.

There is a harness under the passenger seat with a connector. Make sure it is connected.

Look under the seat. There is a bunch of wires. Find the connector joining the wires and make sure it is plugged up. Mine came loose and threw the light.
