Default 2006 ram 1500 front shock????

Want to replace front shocks on my ram. 2006 1500 Big Horn edition, 20"wheels. want to go with Bilstein 5100's.
1. Does this have shocks or struts. Looks like coil over shocks.
2. Does anyone have part # for these (shocks or struts)
suggestions on how to go about this. do I need spring compressor?
looks like the "shock" has a U shaped piece of metal welded to the bottom bolt piece..does the Bilstein come with this already welded on?
I know..lots of ???'s but I want to order the right part
Great forum
Thanks...BA

yes its a coilover strut. yes the bilsteins come with everything you need. you just have to swap the coil and coil seat from the factory struts. and yes, you will need a spring compressor

Thanks, and yes I want to level the front end. Thought if I get the 5100's it would level (or lift slightly) the front end.
Thanks All

they do, couple guys on here with longer trucks have them and the 5100 have leveled them nicely. don't know why mine's exactly and i mean exactly an inch higher in the rear still. but they are still awesome, love mine. i just always seem to have issues no matter what it is lol.

So... if I have this correct, I can gey 5100 struts for the ram 1500 2006, it comes with all I need but have to use my springs. AND, (using spring compressors) I can install them. No real big issues. I've changed shocks before, never struts, but I believe I change these also. Do I need to look out for any oddities or unusual ways to approach this to make it easier?
thanks
BA

Hey...Thanks for the advice..think I'll do the same and let them worry about the spring compression.
