Rain Drops are Falling on My HEAD? Sunroof Leak Issues.
I'm new to this site and am hoping there is someone out there that can advise me. I have a 2005 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4. I bought it used at the dealership and bought an extended warranty which has come in handy in the past couple of months (2 claims so far). Not sure if this is a warranty issue, I'm happy to attempt any repairs myself. Today I found puddles of water under my rear seats and have traced the leak up to the sunroof. It appears to be leaking at the rear seal of the sunroof and can visibly see drips at each rear corner. I noticed that the sunroof seems a bit higher than the cab on the rear and thought the sunroof may be able to be adjusted to create a better seal. Has anyone had this issue before? Anyone know hot to fix or adjust the sunroof? I do have it duct taped to stop it for now (been raining for days). I'm at a loss and would rather not be the guy that brings it back in to the dealership. I appreciate any and all help.

You should do you some talkin' to the sun
And say you don't like the way he's got things done
Sleepin' on the job...
Just don't let them blues he sends to meet you, defeat you...
Seriously though, check your warranty, if it's bumper to bumper, let the dealer worry about it. I've seen more than one guy tackle a window molding or sunroof leak issue and make it worse...

the sunroof usually has 2 drain tubes that go down throught the interior pieces to empty out of the bottom of the truck. They get clogged because they put little red reduction caps at the ends of them so all the leaves and dirt and stuff get caught causing the water to back up and out into your floor boards. try taking those pieses off and then find your drain holes in the roof and blow them out with an air compressor. I had the same exact problem wiht my commander and it worked for me.

That's a good call. Now that I read your post I remember reading the same thing on one of the Jeep Grand Cherokee forums...
The sun roof is adjustable, had to do mine right after I bought it. But, it's a PITA and I'd let the dealer mess with it if it's still under warranty. If not, you need to pop the sun roof in the up position, not back. Then remove the fan fold(it just snaps in place). There are 4 torx screws in the corners of the frame you can loosen and adjust. Takes a little bit of patience but it's not too hard. Just move a hair at a time and keep closing your sun roof to see how it rests. I still had to line the inside edge of the roof with electrical tape even after I got the window centered and leveled. Easiest way to check is to try to slide a piece of paper between the roof and the seal all the way around with the window closed. Good luck.
My sunroof started leaking a few weeks ago and floorboard on both front sides were wet. After doing a little searching for a solution, I found that the drain tubes were all brittle and cracked in several places which was where the water was leaking out at. I bought some rubber tubing to replace the brittle plastic tubing so hopefully that will stop the leaking.
