Q to Quad Cab buyers... just curious.
During the week it is just me. I drop my 4 year old off to school then it's all me. On the weekends, it becomes the family thing. Wife, 2 kids, and the pilot. Also, mom-in-law might tag along every now and then. I also like the fact that I can use the back seat as a trunk.
Also, I have my own business and I can put inventory inside with me. Security being a big plus.

Interesting responses. It seems everyone uses or thinks they will use the extra room. Implied is that it's worth the extra weight, price, etc. Perhaps, asking how often the extra room is actually used would have been more informative.
Thanks for your time.
All the best.

I love my Quad cab. it's great for traveling. I used to have a 96 s-10 that i used for commuting to college (34mpg). I love the room, I'm originally from wisconsin and live in MS. The trip would get old alone. Its always nice to have everything on your truck. Started out wantin a 2wd std cab and found a loaded(everything but the sunroof and power adjustable pedals) 2005 QC, 4x4, Hemi for $41,000. Paid $26,000 with 6,000 miles. (Dealer used it to go back and forth from home)
Let's see... Long answer:
More room for friends, groceries, the dog, etc.. More protection in a rear-end collision.. It's heavier so you get more traction in wet/muddy conditions.. Looks "more gooder", in my opinion.. And it helps the resale value should you want to trade in for a new one down the road..
How often do I use the extra space? Whenever the need arises.. You know what they say.. If it's there, we'll find a use for it..
Short answer:
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it..

Honestly, I would have preferred an extended cab. Obviously they do not make one. I may trade in my Ram for a new Ford F250 Extended cab 4x4 with a Diesel.
Generally I usually buy the bare bones model with A/C regardless if a pickup or car. A little over a year ago I wanted to replace my Nissan Frontier with something larger for hauling my two quads. I found a used 89 F150 XLT Lariat with the king cab....Nothing wrong with that truck other then a little underpowered but I found having that extra seat/cab to come in quite handy. I could leave my riding gear back there so didnt' have to load/unload everytime we went riding etc.....
FFWD to about a month ago. I hadn't necessarily been looking for a new pickup but Folsom Lake Dodge kept running these ad's on the radio and newspaper for the QC, Bighorn Hemi etc for only $19K....My buddy got a Dakota last year and I was impressed with how much room and power it had when we took it on a trip. Anyway, when I was looking at the Rams I THOUGHT thats what my buddy had so was already fairly familiar with them, or so I thought.
On my first test drive I was quite impressed with not only the power, but the room and features. Not necessarily in need of a new truck I just had to give it some thought but in pricing them it was the deal I just had a hard time passing up. My buddy paid $14K for his Dakota USED(70K miles I think) with the 4.7 magnum. There was nothing out there under $25K that was even CLOSE to this truck package, heck Chevy and Ford priced out over $30K for similarily equipped and the sticker on my truck was over $33K.
So needless to say, it was the price that got me in the door but I'm very impressed with the pickup and feel I got a pretty good deal.
