Default 2006 2500 4x4 radio conversion

Hello all, I have a 2006 2500 4x4, the OEM radio(non navigation) will sometimes not turn on after starting the truck. I have a friend who works for chrysler and he told me the radio is the culprit. I found a 2007 OEM radio/navigation package that I can purchase cheap. I realize that the bezel will need to be changed, my question is, will this be a direct replacement for the exisiting radio, or will I need the "MYGIG" harness to make it compatable? I have found two different answers on the internet. Pleas advise,,, Thanks

I just looked at the backside of a mygig unit and there are 3 diff connector holes. On my 2008 non-nav unit(same as your '06), there are only 2. One a little larger and one smaller one. This leads me to believe that the radio utilizes other sources for operation. Possibly reverse sensor, speed sensor, gps antenna...etc that aren't there on your truck.
I wish I could help you out more but I swapped mine out for an aftermarket unit.
