Default 2002 4.7l Idle and stall problem

Hi, I'm new here. I have a 2002 Ram 1500, 4.7 l. It just started stalling yesterday and idles at very low speeds, 500 RPM instead of usual 625 RPM. Any ideas on how to fix would be appreciated.

Thanks

Clean the throttle body out, most likely you've got a bunch of crud built up and it's clogging the idle air valve.

Thanks. I removed the IAC and cleaned it and throttle body with Carburator Cleaner and it works fine now. Saved myself a couple of hundred bucks I'm sure.

Welcome. Any maintenance you can do yourself is good money saved. Have you been maintaining everything else regularly?

Hi weedahoe. No I typically take it in for service and do keep it maintained very well. I just thought this didn't seem like too difficult a task so decided to fix myself. Used to do all my own maintenance years ago before vehicles got so complicated and computerized. Kinda miss it.

Its still the same for the most part, plugs, wires, air filters, oil, hoses, belts, susp part, brakes, ect. All of that and more you can still do yourself. Anything that seems too much for you we can always help out with.
