Well I decided I would upgrade my Alpine 9886 with a Clarion VZ709 head unit. I figured the wiring harness swap would be pretty simple but.....I got everything spliced together and as soon as I plug the harness into the back of the head unit I makes a sound like it's trying to spit out a CD. This is without the key even in the ignition. I can't get the unit to turn on at all with the key in the ignition, I just get the repetitive CD discharge sound. I ran a new ground and double checked all my connections. Any Ideas???? Any suggestions would be great at this point, starting to get a short fuse with this thing. Thanks.

im pretty sure that means you have the 12v power mixed up with something else, like a speaker wire or something. sounds like the deck is having a seizure

I'm pretty sure the 2 yellow 12 volt wires are matched together, and the red accessory wires together as well....I'll have to check everything again.

I had the same issue when installing a jensen flip out cd/dvd. my issue was several blown fuses. only thing I can think of.

ya check your fuses. If they are ok, then just double check your connections like you say (make sure your ground is a true ground, as sometimes you can hit metal that you think is a ground, but its not necessarily connected to the frame)...if they are ok then if you have a multimeter, just for giggles meter out each wire to your ground(at the connector to the deck end) to make sure you are getting 12V...If everything checks out I would be willing to bet your deck might be shot....
