Tru trac installed
Just picked up the truck with a brand new tru trac put in. First off, I have been having problems with my rear and after off roading. Turns out the pinion bearing blew. The big one had gouges in the race. I am shocked that it lasted this long let alone even worked. Anyway, I saved it in time before it completely disintegrated and thrashed the gears. While I was in there, I had them get the tru trac. so everything is fresh. I have to say, it SUCKS to spend $1200 and not even be able to see what you got. I kind of want a maghytec diff cover to make something trick looking. The posi works great, totally silent and smooth. The mechanic said they get about 3 dodges a week for the same problem. They think that the bearing pre load is set too tight from the factory causing the oil to not be able to lube the bearings, then heat destroys it. Then the stock LSD is a whole other problem in itself. Im glad i just fixed one of the weak links to the truck.
I need to inspect my gears. My trucks makes a err err err sound when i turn sharply going slow. Its faint but still bugs me. It went away for about a year after my pinion seal was changed. It's good you got yours fixed.
No clutches in a DTT.
