Default HELP needed on diagnosing an issue with the stock CD radio on 2004 dodge ram 1500 qua

HELP needed on diagnosing an issue with the stock CD radio on 2004 dodge ram 1500 quad cab SLT.
Turns on and sound works on occasion but cuts out alot when in cd mode or in radio mode.
***Is it a speaker issue or radio issue or computer issue?
How can I test this?
**AND Does anyone have a diagram of power/electrical system for the 2004 Dodge ram 1500 quad
cab?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Kev

Do you have the Infinity unit or not? If all sound cuts out and you do not have the Infinity system then it is the HU that needs to be replaced. If you do have the Infinity system then it could be either the amp or the HU. But it is not cost effective to replace either.

So either way, it sounds like it is time to replace the HU and get something after market that has more controls, option, flexibility and better sounds.

Does it turn off, or does the sound quit working. I think the infinity system has an amp installed from the factory that could be going bad on it.

Either way, I would just suggest getting a better HU as weed said. Your stereo is probably just getting tired. So many aftermarket's out there that you would be even happier with. Just MHO

The stock HU is 1.5 DIN in size. You can find those replacements or you can go down to a 1 DIN HU that is a single slot CD player or even a fold out screen with DVD and Nav. Or I can make you a 2DIN bezel and you can use a big double DIN touch screen with DVD/Nav/BT and whatever else.
