Default Help Installing a K&N Intake Install gone Bad!!!

I just got my new k&n intake for my 07 ram hemi. Go over to my friends house to help me install it today and cant freaking install it. I didnt know that you need the bushings and some brackets from the factory intake to make the heat shield fit in. Damm. I sold my facotry intake and dont have the parts from it. why doesnt it say on k&n that you will need these parts. I go to dealer and they dont sell the bushings for it and need to buy the whole factory intake to have them come with it. Im READY TO SCREAM LOL. Anyone have this problem when installing a intake. Please help.

It is often that a mod requires you to re-use factory parts when installing the mod. As a matter of fact, back in my Jeep Wrangler owning days it was almost ALWAYS the case whether you needed to retain the bushings for a swaybar or all the bolts for a winch bumper, etc.

Rule of thumb: Don't sell off the original part until AFTER you install the new one.

Although it shouldn't be too hard to fab up something. Because I made both Pyro's and Johnny's CAI's we went on a hardware store raid for me to walk up and down the isles looking for things I could fab up a bracket or two with...

You can usually always find stock air intake parts from these guys on the boards because no one wants them. I ended up throwing mine in the trash a long time ago because I could not GIVE it away.

I have a older K&N 77 kit on my 03 truck which required removing the inter-fender well during the installation (PIA) and I don't remember using any of the original pieces. I also installed a K&N kit on a 04 that was much simplier and don't remember needing any of the OEM stuff on that one either. What is it you need to re-use?

K&N is saying on the sheet i need the bushings from the factory box to put in the brakcets where it mounts underneath the sheild to the fender. Then they are saying i need the air nox mount. so the braket going to the sheild will connect the air box mount. Thats what is says. There is the installation sheet online.

Curious - when I installed the aFe Stage II on my 300, I didn't need to reuse any of the OEM parts. Same when the TrueFlow went into my Ram. Oh, well. Hope you find what you need at the Pick 'n' Pull. I've never seen a Gen III Ram at the one here.
