2003 ram 1500, worn out bearings/spider gears in rear diff, 29k miles...what?
Welp, they fixed the rear end thank god. It's good to go, but now they're saying i have a bad bearing in the FRONT now.....UGH.
They wanna charge me $250 to have it changed out, all i can say is SCREW THAT when i can do that easily myself. My step dad can get the bearing assembly for cost at his friends place, so why bother when it can be done in an hour with a jack and some hand tools? haha
just to clear it up it's basically:
jack it up
remove wheel
remove brake caliper
remove speed sensor
pop off bearing assembly
then reverse?

If it is only $250 to have them do it, Let them. The sealed unit is like $236 from Advance Auto. Poping off the bearing assy is where the fun begins. Usually they are frozen on. Heat and a big hammer. You may need a flat cold chisel to work around the inside where the bearing assy meets the knuckle. Looks to me like your truck was an old Fastenal truck. They sell there used trucks cheap around here with low mileage. Theirs are the only ones Ive seen withe the silver stripe below the white.
