Cat-Back Dual Exhaust Question??
Its just as simple a cutting the old exhaust and bolting on the new, right? Ive searched some threads on here and am confused. Do I have MDS to worry about? I also read where tire size makes a difference? I have 17' on it now but want to get the factory 20"s as soon as I find a good deal. So what do I need to be weary of???
Also, anyone know how a Flowmaster Super 44 sounds on an 03 1500 4.7L? Any other muffler recommendations? I dont want it obnoxiously loud. And I really dont want to hear it inside the cab, maybe just a hint or a bit more.

I put the Magnaflow cat back dual system on my truck, and it was pretty easy to install. I sprayed down the exhaust joints with PB Blaster the night before I started to remove the stock exhaust, and everything came apart pretty easily the next morning. I did have to eliminate my spare tire though.
The kit came with everything needed to replace the three stock mufflers. I did not want it to be too loud, because I drive it everyday, and too loud would get annoying on long trips pulling my camper. I elected to keep the front stock muffler, and replaced the mid muffler with the one supplied in the kit, and the rear muffler was also eliminated. Has a nice tone to it now at idle, and at low R.P.M. It opens up a little louder at about 3000 RPM. It has a real nice tone without being overbearing.
Just follow the directions, and you'll be fine. The only possible issue that I had was the location of the rear light wiring along the driver's side frame rail. It was real close to the pipe running on that side, so I had to wire tie it up out of the way, and also put on a thermo sleeve just for good measure.
The MDS was not effected on my truck from the exhaust, and I am not experiencing the drone that others have spoke of. Maybe that is because I left the front muffler on?

if you want a melow tone and not loud and obnoxious leave the front resonator on. the flowmaster 50 has a more mellow tone then the 44 but they dont flow as well as some of the other mufflers. if you are looking for performance over sound find a strat flow muffler like the magnaflow or aero turbine. if you just want a good sound and don't care about performance the flowmaster is the way to go.
