Default 2005 Dodge 1500 Keyless entry FOB

I just bought a 2005 Dodge 1500 and it didnt come with a keyless entry fob. I bought one from the dealership but I do not know how to program it to my truck since the owners manual says you need one already programmed to the truck to program a new one. Any ideas or links to where i can find out how to do this without paying the dealership $50?

I would say that the dealer is your only option because the reason you need an already programmed remote is to access the programmin menu within the keyless module. Without that key, there's no way to access it without the Starscan tool the dealer has. If I were you, I would buy another to have as a spare so to not put yourself in the same predictament again. i doubt you would be charged extra for the 2nd key programming...beside's...you could do that yourself as well. I'd get another if it were me.
See, with the '06+ years, you need TWO originally programmed keys in order to make them work. Just one key doesn't cut it, so the first thing i did was buy a cbasic chipped key and programmed it myself just incase I lost an original or it got damaged.

Same thing happened to me. I bought the truck used and the fellow said he didn't have the fob, so I ordered one and took it to the dealer to program it. They had it 1/2 hour before they realized it didn't even have the RKE module to have keyless entry. Idiots..............It was gonna be like $220 to get done. Screw that! I will do it manually.
