Default Tow Mirrors

Hey guys/gals, New to the forum here just wanted to say hi. I picked up my 2004 ram 1500 on saturday. So far im having fun with the truck and loving it.

I had a quick question tho. My tow mirrors seem to be extremely loose. When im driving the actual glass on both mirrors seems to move by itself and I constantly have to fix the drivers side at least since i cant reach the passenger side.

So basically my question is, is there a way to tighten the actual glass so that it stays put?

They are manual mirrors. if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Are they aftermarket? Those mirrors just snap into a pivot joint that is just plastic. i suppose the plastic could wear down and not clamp down enough. I would think that there is no real solution to your problem other than buying entirely new mirrors, like the whole deal, not just the glass part. I don't think there are any bands or anything that can be replaced. I hope I'm wrong for your sake.

As far as I know they are factory tow mirrors. I just got the truck on saturday and they came with it so I have no idea. I hope that there is a way to fix it. Thanks for the input

No way I know of to fix it. I know they sell replacement glass for the regular mirrors but Ive never seen replacement glass for the tow sets.

This is a very common issue with ebay tow mirrors, but rare with the OEM ones. I suspect the original owner added them and tried to save some $.

No way to fix that I know of short of replacement...

It's not the glass that controls the pivoting motion. It's the assembly that the glass snaps into. Replacing the glass won't solve the OP's issue.

OP, I would wedge some plastic or something small around the outside of the glass for now. This way, they stay where you want until you get suitable replacements.

Ya, same here.... I live in Vaughan (woodbridge), ontario, canada not far from u ^^^

I guess ill either have to get a set of cheap ebay mirrors and see how long they last or splurge and spend $600 on mirrors. More than likely getting the ebay mirrors or go to a wrecker and see what I can find. Id rather buy a new set off ebay for $30-$40 each once a yr for 6 yrs than buy $600 mirrors. Thanks everyone for your input.

Seeing as how i am a newb to Rams, well trucks in general (had a modified integra before this) I will be on the forums quite a bit. Thanks again.

Are there any places in buffalo that have good prices on parts? If anyone knows of any please let me know. I would have no problem going to the states to pick up a bunch of stuff and install it on my truck there so i dont pay border tax...lol...
