Rebuild or replace
The motor in my 2002 dodge ram is shot. i was told i messed up the berrings. I have had some mechanics tell me that i should not worry about rebuilding the motor because I'll end up putting more money into it then t worth. Should I just get a crate motor? If so, how much would install cost? Or, should I just get a new vehicle?

Main question is are you going to rebuild it or have a shop do it?
Obviously if you a shop does it the labor is going to be extensive.
When do you have to have it fixed? Is it a daily driver.
If you want to keep the truck I'd look at the overall shape of the engine and body. If you just put money into suspension and have a lot invested in it, it might be worth throwing an engine into it, or rebuilding.
On the other hand, if you're looking at reselling the thing after you put the engine in it, it is very likely that it is not worth it. Also depends on what you want to do with a newer vehicle -- and if you want to part this one out or sell it to the junk yard.
Kind of why we live in America -- it's your choice. If it were me, I'd probably get a new vehicle and either rebuild the truck or part it out. That's just me, though.

4.7 huh? I would call around and see what some local prices are. If you are going to buy that S10 to drive then why not build the 4.7 yourself and save a ton

You can probably find a decent 5.9 out of a donor truck and put it in as well. Crate engines are not that expensive either if you are looking to go the fast route. I would rather spen the $$ to put a crate engine in than be caught driving an S-10 lol jk.
