LAMP OUT is driving me Nucking Futs!!!! HID/RESISTOR
Been back and fourth with this to what seems like 100 times, driving me absolutely nuts. Just got new headlights and some different hid bulbs. Took it all out, have a 50w resistor, installed it all on one side, worked good. NO lamp out on dash.. Went to to other side seemed to be good, installed everything put it back together and the **** says lamp out. hids everything work great just cannot live with the light.. I then put it all to stock cut the resistors off, and i still get lamp out, tried to cycle the key, unplug battery and nothing LAMP OUT with stock headlights, and no one of my tail lights is not burnt out. I have a 35w hid kit w/relay harness to battery, 50w resistors hooked up to the low beam side, halogen highs. I dont understand wtf is going on im about to drive it off a cliff

ohm will not matter, he like will have 6 ohm or 10 ohm. But here is the issue, you said with the HIDs you got the Lamp Out and with the HIDs out and the halogen bulbs in you got the Lamp Out still.
Resetting the PCM will not resolve this one. This is not a PCM/TCM code.
You have an issue elsewhere. Some 03 trucks had loose or bad circuit boards in the rear tail lights. Some would heat up around the base of the bulbs and melt/warp and loose contact to the bulb base.
So at this point neither the HIDs or resistors are your issue. Put that halogens back in for now and trouble shoot accordingly for the Lamp Out. Once you have that resolved, then move forward with the HID install.

I only thought that maybe if he bought a resistor that had too high an ohm rating, maybe it sparked something in the ECU, cause I would think that something above 15 would provide too high a resistance....that was just a thought....
The other thought I had was that the lamp out light was still coming on with his halogen highs. Which in theory when he has his highs on that light should not come on because its a halogen bulb? Or are those halogens not near the power of a stock halogen?

my resistors are 4.7 ohm, kind of weird but either way there not hooked up and i get the lamp out still. I do have LED in reverse lights, license lights, and cargo lights (i put these on atleast a week ago without issue) The lamp out is only headlights/tail light/brakes correct? Is it even the front signals?
License plate and cargo lights will not do it but reverse lights (LED) with no resistors will give the Lamp Out. Put the OEM bulbs back in for testing and see if it goes out.

Everything works, im about 99.9% reverse light doesnt throw bulb out. Theve been in for atleast a week or 2 without an issue. anyway everything works now. bulb out detects, front signals, rear signals/brakes and headlights. I think i had a bad signal bulb (from the cheap china black housing headlights i got) Since DDM doesnt carry a 9007 bulb with hid lo/halogen hi i bought some on ebay and they look like ***. Almost green (suppose to be 6k) So i guess im going to buy another set of resistors and 9007 hi/lo from ddm so they atleast match. Moreee moneyyy and time cant wait!
