Default 4-link the rear and coil the front of a 2004 4x4?

Last year, I saw a 2009 4x4 RAM 1500 that was a show piece from a dealership that had a 4-link (plus panhard) rear and coil springs up front. My question is has anyone tried to adapt the newer front suspension to an older truck? Coils instead of torsion bars would be a HUGE improvement.

As far as the rear, I've done 4-link suspensions before but if anyone has pics of it, I'd really appreciate seeing them.

Thanks.

I would be really interested in that myself.. I have the torsion bars on mine with a 6" lift and don't think i could be unhappier... They sag down and the amount you can lift them seems to be very little (6" max)

All custom suspension right there. And when you get custom, you can make anything happen with the right tools and mindset.

Wait, the 2009 4x4 doesn't have coils from the factory? It was a damned good fab job if that's the case.

Is this for a smoother ride or a off road suspension? It would be way to much of an investment just for a smoother ride but if its for a pre runner than go all out and build i custom with super long arms and shocks up toward the cab of the truck.

This truck isn't driven offroad so it would mostly be to give me the ability to change ride height more easily and still be able to tow safely. The smoother ride of the coils and better located axle due to the links are just a bonus. I'd also make the links adjustable so the suspension can be tuned.

Well in that case. Ditch the coils all together and put in full time airbags. Feel like your riding on air.

The 4th gens have rear coils already. The front was custom if it it was solid axle. Or do the 2wd use coil-overs too?
