Delayed Crank

I have a slight delay. Roughly 2 seconds before it begins to crank. It has to do with the electronics. Everything feeds through the Sentry Theft program which takes the electronics chips time to respond.
If you have to wait like 4 or 5 seconds before beginning to crank, then you may have something esle going on!

I think you guys are just used to it unless you went out and verified that there is no slight delay?? That was one of the first things I realized when I bought my truck. If I didn't realize it then, I wouldnt have paid any attention to it. It certainly isn't near as instant like my '97 Exploder is which is completely different.
My wife's '07 Sonata has a slight delay as well.
There is a difference just as Dennis has described. if you go from insertion to directly cranking, there will be an initial delay. If you turn to acc and then crank or if you turn the key slowly, there isn't really any delay at all.
The reason is, the components must first turn on(i.e.speedo, ign power..etc) before the vehicle can crank. When you rip right through to crank, the delay is waiting for these components to power up before starting.
