Default Brake Problems...need help NOW

Okay well I'm driving today and start hearing a pretty rediculous clanging up in front of my truck, along with some play in the steering wheel....I get home and start taking my wheels off worried about it possibly being my spacers and get the passenger front off, back on and the the driver side.

So I get someone to hold the brake down when I'm tightening the nuts and I'm yelling at them "push the brakes, push the brakes" and they were, but the hub kept turning. The brake pedal was losing pressure and slowly going down.

So cut it on and while pumping it slowly starts to firm up, but now it's locked on the driver side and won't spin, but the passenger side spins freely...also the rear wheels both are fine...what's the deal?

Sounds to me like you got a bad seal on that caliper piston. Bleed it and it should let loose, then you are looking at a rebuild with a seal kit (which is usually about $25-30). Never done it myself, but have seen my old man do it...

Not sure i fully understand what you were trying to explain???

What does the clanging have to do with the caliper seizing? That'll just make the truck pull to one side and smoke the brake pads.
Sounds like you have more than just a caliper issue here.

i wouldn't rebuild it yourself. just get a reman'd one.

First off, when you pumped the brakes and it's locked....was the truck off? if so, start the truck and see if it releases before tearing it out.

Doesn't release after starting, and no pulling...although when I hit a bump it felt like it was driving better?

Dirty I have no idea why the clanging would have anything to do w the brake issue but they started at the same time

I guess I'll bring the thing to the dealer even though I think they wont touch it

I would take that $100 and get a new caliper and go from there.
I would check your swaybar links and bushings to see if that's the source of clanging.

i thought you were trying to say the caliper being frozen was the clanging...lol

Screw the dealer. if it aint totally stock, they will have no freakin clue because they won't be able to look up the problem. We all know they think inside the box and need textbook definitions to diagnose.

* also check the rack bushings too.

Yeah, sounds like a bad caliper to me too. But at least you know which one is your problem. See my thread HERE
