If it were me and if I were building up and engine, i would look for a junk engine or at least a block to build and then swap my heads and accessories over to it for the least amount of down time unless i had another ride to drive.

i think itll be fine for just a cam swap. do yall think i should pull the heads and clean the engine?

I would not pull the heads unless you have to. Thats another $100 in head gaskets and head bolts. There is a nice cam swap thread in the FAQs.

Of course the 3" body lift makes it easier -- so the $450 expense cuts the expense of removing the heads in half -- if you do that work yourself.

Sorry,- was referring to clearances being easier with a body lift around the back side of the engine and the body tub. Makes it easier to get your hand and a socket back there. And -- might as well do it while you have everything off.

Ah.....yes you are correct. A body lift does help with that. Getting a 8mm socket or wrench on those back valve cover bolts is a biotch as it is and a BL does help.
