One that size sounds more like removing the Mini from the filter.

Yeah, when I said "ginormous", I was thinking more like a 16mm or so.

That's the way they used to be I think -- to make it easy to get at instead of having to guess which hex key to use.

They use rubber plugs for the rear diff to make it even easier.

@weed - You have to use hex key to remove the filter on the mini?

My dad was telling me about the days when he worked on the tractors on Reese AFB and changing those filters -- using hex keys as thick as his arm.

No, I have to use a 1/2" 36mm socket to remove her oil filter. It is the way they designed it to make it more difficult than it should be
