All I can say is my Detroit TruTrac does not have a pin. There is a round metal disc that fits between the axle ends I call it a puck, it is something like 7/8" long and 1-1/8" in diameter. And held in place by what I call a plug. I'll see if I can find a photo. Edted: this is a picture of what I am trying to describe. It shows the "puck" and the retainer (plug).

Hmmmmm.....I do understand what your saying and I've seen that "puck" on my unit.
I guess I'll just update my gear installer at the time and appraise him.
Thanks again for the info RedTruck-VA

Default Gears are in!

I have to say that was the best thing i have bought for my truck, what a difference. For those people that are going to buy a lift, do the gears at the same time. so happy with this truck right now.
what to do next? lol

Break 'em in right and you should never have a problem. Just don't push 'em till they are broken in...

Thats a good diff. I run it in my mustang with a 4.30 gear launching about 6700rpm on a 10" wide slick. Has held up real good for 2 years. Probably going to use it in my Ram when I get around to yanking the gears out. Poor thing still has 3.55's.

That plug is not bad to get in just have to install it at an angle. Should have plenty of room to fit in even with a 1/3 of opening covered by a ring gear.
